Muchos Momentos 11.6 & 11.7.13

The students have been very busy this week. Wednesday and Thursday's Momentos feature a number of classes. The Sixth Age classes have been working on their own Joan Miró-inspired art work. Miró's surrealist style includes many shapes, colors, and black lines, mostly squiggly. The students in 6-B had the opportunity to participate in a collaborative lesson with Sra. Sachar's fifth grade Spanish class. The students enjoyed playing Memory with color cards. They also completed a color by number version of Miró's People and Dog in the Sun.

The Eighth Age students have been learning about Dia de los Muertos, making comparisons between Día de los Muertos and Halloween, enjoying bread of the dead, making clay sugar skulls in art class, and making papel picado or marigolds for our final display. On Thursday, the chicas in the Eighth Age worked on the marigolds. It was frustrating for some but the girls who understood how to do it right away were super helpers to their classmates.

Below are slideshows and videos to highlight the Momentos. Enjoy!
