Today's Momento features the Ninth Age chicas who are working on a folder paper. They have to choose two family members, one friend, and one teacher about whom they should write. They must use las personas and los adjectivos vocabulary. They must also make some sentences using no (not), muy (a lot), and un poco (a little). This is a great opportunity to observe how the students are thinking about how the language works and how they apply what they know to get their point across to the reader. For example, the students learned long ago about agreement and that adjectives follow nouns. They recently learned that muy and un poco go before the adjective. When describing people, they learned using simple sentences. Ella es alta. She is tall. One student discovered today how to put all of these things together in a new way. She wanted to write, "He is a very nice teacher." The natural inclination is to write the following: "Él es muy simpático un profesor." After reminding her of using what she knows about the way adjectives are used in Spanish, she figured out the correct sentence: "Él es un profesor muy simpático." ¡EXCELENTE!
